Woodworking Workers CV

Woodworking Workers CV

Woodworking is the skill of making items from wood. It includes wood carving, joinery, and carpentry. Historically, woodworkers relied upon the woods native to their region, until transportation and trade innovations made more exotic woods available to the craftsman.

Woods are sorted into three basic types: hardwoods typified by tight grain and derived from broadleaf trees, softwoods from coniferous trees, and man-made materials such as plywood and MDF.

Typically furniture such as tables and chairs is made using solid stock, and cabinet/fixture makers employ the use of plywood and other man made panel products.

Positions in woodworking may also include packagers, assemblers, sanders, finishers, etc.

Skills that will help you do the job: ability to work day and evening shift, ability to work quickly. Most positions will require you to be able to lift and handle an average of 20 lbs. consistently throughout the day, and some positions require you to handle up to 50 lbs. occasionally throughout the day. Woodworking requires attention to details, noting quality defects in the wood/finish, ability to read the paperwork and follow the instructions, and basic computer knowledge.

When looking for a job in woodworking, prior experience in these types of positions will be an asset.
