CGI Software Guide

CGI Software Guide

Animation encompasses everything from traditional animation (Pencil) to highly complex special effects (Maya 2012). Several content markets exist, such as Websites like Renderosity and Poser World and others discussed in the computer graphics (CG) and computer generated imagery (CGI) forums. Many of the programs below belong into many categories simultaneously, many are available on Windows, MacIntosh and other platforms, but not all. Animation software likewise differs in the protection over its source code. Usually, commercial software have a closed source or proprietary source code, prohibiting that the program be reversed engineered in any way. Conversely, open source and free software, also sometimes referred to as shareware and freeware are free to study and enhance. The preceding sentences describe the situation more or less accurately, but more details can be gotten from reading the GPL, GNU and other public licenses versus license agreements issued with various commercial software.

Someday

Someday

By James Patrick Kelly

That morning she climbed into the pen and spoke a kindness to her pig Bobo. The glint of the knife made him grunt with pleasure and he rolled onto his back, exposing the tumors on his belly. She hadn’t harvested him in almost a week and so carved two fist-sized maroon swellings into the meat pail. She pressed strips of spongs root onto the wounds to stanch the bleeding and when it was done, she threw them them into the pail as well. When she scratched under his jowls to dismiss him, Bobo squealed approval, rolled over and trotted off for a mud bath.

Sle sliced the tumor thin, dipped the pieces in egg and dragged them through a mix of powdered opium, pepper, flour, and bread crumbs, them sautéed them until they were crisp. She arranged them on top of a casserole of snuro, parsnips and sweet flag, layered with garlic and three cheeses. She harvested some of the purple blooms from the petri dish on the windowsill and flicked them on top of her love feast. The aphrodisiacs produced by the bacteria would give an erection to a corpse. She slid the casserole into the oven to bake for an hour while she bathed and dressed for babymaking.

Daya had considered the order in which she would have sex with the fathers. Las was most important, followed by first. The genes of the middle father – or fathers, since some mothers made babies with six or seven for political reasons – were less reliably expressed. She thought starting with Ganth for his summy nature and finishing with Latif for his looks and good made sense. Even though Bakti was clever, he had bad posture.

Ganth sat in front of a fuzzy black and white screen with his back to her when she nudged the door to his house open with her hip. « It’s me. With a present. »

He did not glance away from his show – the colony’s daily news and gossip program about the scientists – but raised his forefinger in acknowledgment.

She carried the warming dish with oven mitts to the huge round table that served as his desk, kitchen counter and sometime closet. She pushed aside some books, a belt, an empty bottle of blueberry kefir, and a Fll Juphigher action figure to set her love feast down. Like her own house, Ganth’s was a single room, but his was larger, shabbier, and bilt of some knotty softwood.

Her brother took a deep breath, his face pale in the light of the screen. « Smells delicious. » He pressed the off button; the screen winked and went dark.

Just stones, these solitary structures, may be creatures who await their hour to awake and take the power.

Witch, Beast, Saint: An Erotic Fairy Tale

Witch, Beast, Saint: An Erotic Fairy Tale

By C.S.E.Cooney

Once upon a time I found a monster in the woods.

In the manner of most witches, I had a knack for discovering lost things. He was crawling with vermin, so wasted he barely flinched when I tested his nose and tongue, checking texture, temperature, moisture.

He was half an inch and kissing close to dying.

“Beast,” said I, in the language all beasts knew. “Look at me. Do you wish to die like this?”

He undeerstood. Opening his eyes, he looked at me. I felt his answer thrum in my bones, barely vocalized, a rattling sigh that was a clearer cry for help than if he had spoken the words in a human tongue.

« Come with me then, » I said, laying a compulsion on him to rise, since he could not do it for himself. « I suppose you can be my familiar. »

I put him in the cellar and fed him up until he was able to move about on his own. Then I began the arduous task of coaxing him outside to the whishing well and washing him, which took many days and a great deal of patience. Already the potatoes and last year’s apples and the onions greening in their barrels had begun to take on his dank and desolate stench. And really, he was so grateful for the attention.

Like many beasts, he found the sound of my voice soothing. So I told him the story of how he came to be.

« This cottage passes from witch to witch, » I said. « My predecessor was ancient by the time she mistook an oak tree for an open passage and drove her mortar and pestle right into it. They say mortar and pestles are safer that brooms. I don’t know about that, I prefer to walk everywhere, or maybe hitch a ride on a wagon. You have nice broad shoulders. Perhaps I’ll teach you to piggyback me, by and by. There’s a bit of a pig in you. Well, boar. It’s the tusks. Your nose is more stag. Soft and broad from bridge to tip. Those gently flaring nostrils. But your horns are definitely bull. Anyway. What was I saying? »

The monster made a gesture like a pestle grinding something in a mortar.

« Right! » I cried. « My predecessor. Apparently in the last few decades before her terminal flying accident, she’d developed this habit of turning local boys to beasts every time they slighted her – or she imagined they did. The most famous case was that of our soveregin prince himself. He lives in a local hedge-witch – much like myself – to break the spell. They say she was so beautiful she could shatter strong sorceries with a kiss. »

I shrugged. My hands were wrist-deep in his sudsy fur, the soap black with his murk.

Rosedale - Part II

Rosedale - Part II

Rosedale neighbourhood of Toronto is built among three ravines, preserved as parkland. Rosedale is full of cul de sacs and convoluted routes through the neighbourhood, which coupled with other physical boundaries (such as the ravines and bridges) lead to low levels of vehicular traffic.

Even though Rosedale is located in the middle of Toronto, virtually no vehicular traffic can be heard with the abundance of trees and foliage that surround the community. The homes are mostly single family detached dwellings, many of which are at least 100 years old including some former farmhouses that are closer to 200. Houses range from Edwardian and Tudor in style to the more common Victorian and Georgian.

Rosedale Park is home to the annual spring park party, Mayfair. The event typically consists of rides, games, flea market and other such carnival-like activities. The event is traditionally on the first Saturday in May and is run and funded by Mooredale House.
