Celebrity Gossip about Kim Kardashian

Celebrity Gossip about Kim Kardashian

At the end of 2011, amid fears of the world coming to an abrupt end in 2012, the world population reached troubling heights, with a baby girl born in the Philippines. Of course, the actual numbers are very hard to keep track of, but the world population is significant and keeps rising.

Naturally, such numbers lead to concerns as to what will likely happen in time on planet Earth. After all, food, water, space and even air come in finite quantities. Interestingly, the dilemma lies at the heart of the social science of economics: How to satisfy humanity’s unlimited number of wants, with limited resources? Expand human civilization’s habitat into space?

Colonizing distant planets may become an increasingly appealing option in time (with the advent of technology and discovery of such appropriate fairly close-by and hospitable to life stellar bodies), but so far, planet Earth remains the only possibility. But, despite worries, there seem to be other subjects people occupy themselves with. For instance, the fact that Kim Kardashian (reality tv star, host of the show held with her family Keeping Up With the Kardashians, socialite and former best friend of famous heiress Paris Hilton) filed for divorce only 72 days after her wedding.

The celebrity’s wedding to Kris Humphries (professional basketball player) was a highly mediatized and popular event, many now claiming the whole ordeal was a publicity stunt. Nonetheless, the ex-bride to be explains that she had doubts even before the marriage, while Anderson Cooper (renown journalist and talk show host – AC 360°) added ‘haters’ of the young lady to his RidicuList.

Business Essay: Business & Marketing

Business Essay: Business & Marketing

The purpose of this essay is to write a brief overview of the main concepts of business and marketing, as far as it is possible in such a short entry. Similar to psychology students who must undertake introductory level courses in neuroscience, cognition and perception, business and commerce students have to study business statistics (psychology students also!), business communication, organizational behaviour and introduction to marketing. Indeed, before getting started on the core courses of, example, a finance major, one must understand the basics of related disciplines.

In a shell, marketing includes, but is not limited to, sales and advertising. The 4Ps of marketing, or the marketing mix, refer to production, price, product and promotion. Clearly, aside from generating a product with valuable features to consumers, with an affordable yet reflecting the cost (and often the quality and prestige) of the product or service, price; such aspects as channels of distribution, as well as, making the availability of the product known to the target audience comprise important topics of an introductory level course in marketing. Additionally, marketing basics such at the product lines grid developed by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) classifying product offerings combinations into stars, cash cows, dogs or question marks are discussed, among other things.

Business students, as psychologists have shown, often have a more material and pragmatic orientation than their art history counterparts, according to at least one study. Similarly, when one browses online job boards today, business degrees seem to be more in demand than pure liberal arts degrees, since sales remains a much larger field than, to illustrate, intervention in gambling addictions.

Indeed, finance and accounting majors look at many potential certifications to choose from (as long as they fulfill the educational and work related experience requirements of regulatory bodies), such as the CFA (Chartered Financial Analysts), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), which used to be further subdivided into CA (Chartered Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant) and CGA (Chartered or Certified General Accountant). A popular academic route for commerce students to embark on, is to complete their MBA (Masters of Business Administration) degree, a substantial graduate addendum to a bachelor of commerce (BCom) or bachelor of business administration (BBA).

The purpose of the present paper was to outline the main theoretical constructs in business and marketing, especially as they related to education. However, interestingly enough, however, employers may look for several other critical skills in making decisions regarding potential hires. For example, in addition to work experience and/or educational background, important skills, such as organizational, communication, time management, analytic and other abilities, such as business acumen and interpersonal qualities leading to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with clients and customers, may be of equal, if not at times of greater, importance to human resources (HR) mangers and recruiters. Luckily, many resources exist to discuss typical interview questions, cover letter and resume writing tips, and other important issues in finding and securing gainful employment.

The Magician and Laplace’s Demon

The Magician and Laplace’s Demon

By Tom Crosshill

As the fabric of Zale’s pocket ballooned, I contemplated the end of the universe.

As her hip vaporized in a crimson cloud, I realized the prospect didn’t upset me.

As the exlosion climbed Zale’s torso, I experienced my first painless moment in a thousand years.

Pain had been my feedback system. I had no more use for it. Whatever happened next was out of my control.

He last thing Zale saw was Ochoa sitting there – still and calm, and oblivious. Hints of crimson light playing on her skin.

It occured to me she was probably the only creature in this galaxy older than me.

The superheated plasma burned out Zale’s eyes.

External sensors recorded the explosion in the unijet. I sent in a probe. No biological matter survived. The last magician was dead.

The universe didn’t end.

Quantum fluctuations kept going, random as always. Reality didn’t need Ochoa’s presence after all.

She hadn’t understood her own magic any more than I had.

Captain! First Officer Harris messaged Laojim. Are you all right?

The target had a bomb, I responded on his behalf. Consul Zale is lost.

We had a power surge in the control system, Harris wrote. Hatches opening. Cameras off-line. Ten minutes ago an escape pod launched. Tracers say it’s empty. Should we pursue?

Don’t bother, I replied. The surge must have fried it. This mission is over. Let’s go home.

A thought occured to me. Had Ochoa made good on her threat& Caused a supernova near a gravisible core?

I checked in with my sensor buyos.

No disturbance in in the pernac continuum. She hadn’t Spiked.

For all her capacity, Ochoa had been human, her reaction time in the realm of milliseconds. Too slow once I’d decided to act.

Of course I’d acted. I couldn’t let her compromise my decision. No one could be allowed to limit my world.

Even if it meant I’d be alone again.

High-Tech Manners

High-Tech Manners

Cellular phones: When calling a cellular phone, try to keep the conversation brief and to the point. Also remember that no cellular phone conversation is completely private – your voice may be accidentally broadcast on another cell phone, or, worse yet, purposely picked up by an ill-willed eavesdropper.

Answering machines: Keep outgoing messages clear and brief. Avoid playing elevator music or telling jokes if you don’t want to be annoying. Remember that it’s unnecessary to say that you can’t get to the phone – that will be obvious to the caller. A sample outgoing message: “Hello, you have reached (your name and phone number). Please leave your name, phone number, and message, and we’ll call you back as soon as we can. When leaving a message on an answering machine, follow the same rules: be brief and clear, leave all the information requested in the outgoing message. Try not to hold an extended one way conversation unless you don’t really want to talk to the person you’re calling, anyway.

Call waiting: The best advice is not to succumb to this rudeness at all. But if you must and your conversation is interrupted by a beep signaling another call on your line, sound sincere in your apology to the person with whom you are talking. Switch to the other caller, and quickly explain to him or her that you’ll call back. Then return to the original conversation and apologize again.

Texting: If you are texted while being in a company, politely excuse yourself to answer or to make the necessary phone calls. You are not required to reveal the nature of the call unless you must leave the dinner party, show, or other event.

Call forwarding: This feature allows you to send all of your calls to another phone number, usually the phone of a family or friend. It is handy sometimes, but call forwarding can be a huge inconvenience to a host, particularly one that already has to contend with the phone habits of teenagers under the same roof. If you forward your calls, be sure to ask permission from the person who will answer the line where your calls will ring. And when you receive a call at someone else’s house, keep it brief.

A Better Way to Die

A Better Way to Die

Paul Cornell

Hamilton had been relieved to find that the younger version of himself had gone to the far end of the dining table that stood on a rise at the end of the hall. It any other circumstances, it would have been comforting to be back in this place, with the smell of polish and the candlelight, but as he looked out at the tables of undergraduates, he realised that something was missing. There would normally be numerous servants moving between the rows, delivering plates of food and refilling glasses. Suddenly, he saw just such a meal appearing beside one chattering youth, something which caused the lad no surprise whatsoever. Hamilton had been seated opposite Turpin, and now he looked back at him.

« Hidden service, » the senior man said. « Happens in a lot of places now. The servants move through an infinite fold, in effect an empty optional world, beside the real one. One more use for the new enginges. And neater, you must admit. »

Hamilton didn’t feel the need to agree with such young opinions from his old mentor. He was now wondering if the man’s new smoothness of face was because this was also a younger version. But no, surely not, here was still the experience, the tone of voice he was used to. Turpin had seen that look. “One of the out of uniform men found it for me,” he said, as if he was talking about a carriage. “As soon as the great powers recognized that various of the engines that had fallen into our hands gave us access to optional worlds, outside the balance, the Palace felt it was our lot’s duty to start mapping them, to find out where all these open fold tunnels lead. Our regimental hunting parties have been going all over”.

Hamilton thought he understood now why he hadn’t been included in that effort. “Including another one of you?”

“Several. The original owner of this was only a Newton or so different to the original. Well, in physical terms. Where he came from, a lot of our conflicts didn’t happen, hence the smoothness of face. Our lads put him in the bag, and when they got back, connected his mind to an infinite tunnel. Like using a terrier to root out a fox. Once he was out, I moved in, using the same method. Should keep me going for a bit longer.

Hamilton had found himself wondering at that statement. His balance had been thrown by the boy, and so he’d allowedhimslef the seditious thought, because it had felt not so dangerous then, that Turpin was seeking not, as he said, an extension of his service, but actually tactical advantage at Court. He was now more like those he served were. And never mind the distance that took him from his officers. « What if optional worlds start raiding us in the same way? »

« First thing we thought of. We seem to be unique, at least in all those options nearby. We’re the only ones who’ve encountered the Foreigners. Or they may even only exist in this world. If they do start popping over, we may have to start making treaties with optional Britains rather than raiding them. »

« And extending the balance into them? »

Turpin had raised his hands. Perhaps he felt this was beyond his duty or understanding.
